Yoga Workshop with The Global Society for Peace and Spiritual Science

Bhavan was honoured to host a Yoga workshop with The Global Society for Peace and Spiritual Science. The event was a huge success and attended by both young and old, experienced and novice. The workshop started with some beautiful Nepali bhajans. Acharya ji Rajan Sharma led the congregation with a short lecture followed by Yoga and ended with a tranquil meditation session. The workshop was well received by all those who attended and it was a pleasure for Bhavan to work with such a wonderful organisation.

The voice behind hit songs like Nadia (with Nitin Sawhney), Khwaab (with Niraj Chag) & Jakatta American Dream (#3 in UK main charts), Swati Natekar is one of the most respected voices in Indian Music in U.K. Swati is the daughter and disciple of renowned Hindustani Classical academic & scholar Vidushi Dr. Smt. Sushila Pohankar. She is a UK based Indian Classical, Ghazal and World music singer, songwriter and composer, who is also known for her collaborations with Ustad Zakir Hussain, Talvin Singh, Craig Armstrong, Sonu Nigam & Muzaffer Ali.
 
Swati has released several acclaimed albums and has performed extensively at reputed international venues, both nationally and internationally in Europe, Caribbean, South Africa, India, Karachi, Nairobi. Swati’s voice also features on a Hollywood Warner Brothers movie ‘The In-Laws’, and ‘The Republic Of Love’, directed by Deepa Mehta. Having featured over 25 albums so far, Swati has also released her own Ghazal albums ‘Dhanak’ & ‘Anjuman’; a Fusion album ‘Destiny Chakra’ and Thumri album “Anuraag”.
 
Swati had her lead vocals on the theme song for Commonwealth Games in Delhi in 2010, specially recorded for BBC. It has also been an honour for Swati to represent UK & record the Bhajan “Vaishnav Jan” for the celebration of 150th year of Gandhi Jayanti. For Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan, Manchester, as part of her National Tour which is supported by Arts Council of England, Swati will be presenting “Nazrānā – An Offering” belonging to her roots; a very special concert comprising various Indian Music genres ranging from Semi-Classical, Bhajans, popular Urdu Ghazals to Classic Bollywood. Swati will be accompanied by fantastic team of U.K. based musicians.
